Honey in the Back Yard, 2002 - Canon Powershot A20

Honey was found in an abandoned rental property in Columbus, Ohio by the landlady and her daughter.  The tenants had flown the coop roughly a week or so prior, leaving her locked in a small room with just an open bag of food and no water, in 90-degree summer weather.  She was found along with another dog and a cat.  She had the full retinue of parasites and mites and had to be treated for heartworms.  She was emaciated and ribby.  Thankfully, the landlady's daughter is a veterinary technician, so care was secured and an internet page was posted with the hopes of finding a home out of state, as Ohio has obscene and draconian breed-specific laws on the books, including a state law that defines all Pit Bull Terriers and related breeds as "vicious", a generalization that is completely devoid of any merit whatsoever.  Incidentally, Ohio reportedly has some of the worst cases of animal-fighting in the US despite having breed-specific laws that purport to deal with such nonsense.  However, breed-specific laws *never* work as they fail to address real issues of human behavior.  One hopes that one day Ohio's politicians would see the pernicious error of their deviant ways, but I'm not holding my breath at this point.

So...the lady that I got Obie from sent me the link to Honey's web page and I contacted the nice people who fostered her.  She was brought up here on 09/08/2000.  She's since filled out, and is fat 'n happy.  She's a sweet, lovable Pit mix.  I can't figure out what else is in her, but I figure 75% pit and 25% who knows what else. :-)  I do know this, she's 100% cool, and gets along great with Obie.  She does have a slight fear of thunderstorms, often turning into VelcroPuppy® when the thunder rolls...and the lightning strikes...oops, I knew playing in a country band would mess my mind up.... ;-)

See the link section below for rescue sites - I heartily recommend anyone desiring a Pit Bull to adopt a rescue dog.  They return the favor many times over.
